South Sister - Snow Camp & Climb (Date listed is placeholder, see Desc)

CLIMB IS FULL BUT TAKING ALTERNATES. GIVEN THE DATES ARE FLEXIBLE, GOOD CHANCE ALTS MAY GET A SPOT.

The dates listed are just placeholders. This outing will take place between June 1 and June 14. See below for details.

What & Where - For the last several years we have led a snow camping and snow climbing "experience" on the South Sister before the central cascade permits are required. we park as close as the snow allows us to the devils lake parking area. Great opportunity to practice winter snow camping and snow climbing.

Leaders- Garry Stephenson and Ellen Gradison

When - We will watch the weather and determine a good 24-36 hour period (which could possibly be weekdays) before June 15 and after May 31.

Who - This is geared for first year climb school graduates. We will not be roping up but there are often very steep and icy conditions necessitating good use of ice ax and crampons. This is an overnight training climb.
