Sawtooth/Cowhorn Traverse Scramble Peaks
Unrated: Mostly class 2 with class 3 summit options
Elevation Gain: 3900 ft. Miles: 15.5
These two scramble summits south of Diamond Peak will be accessed from Timpanogas Lake and offer spectacular views of Diamond Peak, the Three Sisters, Crescent Lake and Mt. Thielsen.
This scramble will make a counterclockwise loop beginning at Timpanogas Lake. We will approach Sawtooth Mountain (7301 ft) from a climbers trail, scramble over its crumbly south pinnacle to access its true summit on dinner plates, head toward Cowhorn (7592 ft) via Windy Pass Trail, scramble its small blocky summit and then continue back to Timpanogas Lake. Climbers must be prepared for a long day and lots of mileage.
