This trail offers not only a great view of snowy Mt Jefferson, but also a big meadow of early summer flowers. This should be a good year for beargrass, if we are not too early. We will have lunch at the top of Coffin Mt. Bring plenty of water, entire trail is in the sun.
If it appears we will be too early for the fabled beargrass, we will go to Cone Peak Meadows instead to enjoy those flowers in a lower meadow. This option B is 5.2 miles round trip with 1,100 ft of gain.
