Perimeter Trail—Silver Falls State Park
About this event
The vine maples should be near their peak this week in the backcountry of Silver Falls State Park. The Perimeter Trail begins near North Falls and winds uphill through Douglas fir and hemlock trees, and a dense understory of salal, Oregon grape and sword fern. We’ll pass one of the largest, most impressive Douglas firs in the park, and lunch at the junction with Racket Ridge, before returning on the same route. The trail may be slippery and wet. Bring rain gear, warm gloves and a wool hat, sturdy hiking boots and poles.
