Great work in accommodating on the
fly. The Goat Rocks are often dryer and more welcoming when the
weather goes into the dumper farther north; the Teanaway area (https://www.summitpost.org/the-teanaway/461719)
off I-90 just north of Cle Elum is similar and offers lots of
scrambling opportunities with great views into the Stuart range.
Plaudits to Michael for finding a good water source. The upper
elevations above Snowgrass Flats will dry out as the year
progresses and, when we'd camped in that area in Oct, 2012, we
found a spring hidden in a copse of trees just south of the PCT. Though you do have to deal with
talus/scree, the Goat Rocks
offer mellow scrambling in an exquisite area and you really caught
the wildflowers near their prime. The question lingers however . .
. . where are the goats?!? I didn't see any in the pics. They're
invariably on the slopes southeast of Ives.

Hi friends,
A group of Chemeketans were preparing to climb Glacier Peak, and accidentally ended up in the Goat Rocks Wilderness instead. 😊 A report of the outing is attached, and you can access our shared Google Photos album here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/CLRaGLf6CcpPU3c86
Thanks to our leaders, Michael Gurley and Mason Smith, for a quick pivot and a great adventure!
Cheers, Kaitlin
