Bush and Deepwood Parks Hike – March 15, 2026

Roz Shirack | Published on 3/20/2026

Walkers enjoyed a zig zag tour through Bush Park and Deepwood Park looking for early spring wildflowers. We saw about a dozen species of native wildflowers, including the first camas blooms in Bush Park; and Lamb's Tongue (including the rare pink Henderson's Lamb Tongue) and Trillium (including the rare red kurabayashii) in Deepwood. We walked through the new-ish Woodland Garden next to the Bush greenhouse and stopped to notice the Diversity Tree with four grafted apple species and the old Leslie Pear tree dating to the 1840's.

From Bush Park we walked a few blocks to the Off Beat Cafe at 12th and Cross streets for hot drinks and treats, then walked the final .8 mile back to the parking lot on Mission St. Walkers were Susan and Ric LaTour, Michelle Long, Jenna Nelson, Blanka Truneckova, Elly Collier, Jane Maute, Tim Reidy, Mary Liepins, and leader Roz Shirack.
