Vineyard Mountain Loop at McDonald Dunn Forest - January 21, 2025

The day started rather cool with the temperature about 30 but the sun was shining. We warmed up nicely on the uphill climb of the Vineyard Mountain Trail to a snack break at the site of Professor Peavy's cabin. We had a nice view of Mt. Jefferson near our break. We continued on following Dave's Trail until we got to forest road 580 and started back down. We were met on the road by two people on horseback. We got off the road and finished the hike on the Old Growth/New Growth trail where we had to squeeze past a school group of about 40 students who were hopefully enjoying the day as much as we were. Hikers were: Chris Obrien, Nadene LeCheminant, Elly Collier, Mary Liepins, Steve Engler (trip leader), Pam Thomas, Nancy Earl, Kathleen Hynes, Lisa Cenotto, Kurt Mottweiler, Ann Adamcik, Natalie Arndt, and Sue Engler who was taking the picture. With clear blue sky it was an enjoyable 7.5 mile hike.
