Hawk Mountain

Hawk Mountain with its restored lookout cabin at the top is a lovely moderate trail with great views. It's off Forest Rd 46 which, according to the Detroit Ranger station, will still be open on the 9th. Call or email by 5 PM on Sept. 7 to register (no texts please).

Difficulty: Medium

Pace: Moderate

Hiking Distance: 4.2 miles RT.

Elevation Gain: 700 feet.

Driving Distance: 150 miles RT.

EASY: Maximum of 5 miles round trip, elevation gain less than 1000 feet
MÉDIUM: 6-10 miles round trip, elevation gain 1000-2000 feet
HARD: Long, difficult, and strenuous

To reimburse drivers for vehicle operation costs, the suggested donation by passengers is $0.10 per mile per person to the driver.
